Saddleback Ledge Light Stirs the Imagination
Over the years, I have admired this lighthouse from both the water and up-close. Whether climbing around its craggy ledges or looking down upon this desolate rock from the top of the lighthouse, the scenes never fail to stir the imagination. Many thoughts about Saddleback Ledge have come to mind over the years. Here is one…
Aside from some discarded granite blocks, remnants of brick and masonry wedged in craggy crevices and twisted pieces of iron still holding fast to the ledge, nothing beyond the lighthouse survives at this wave-swept place. An inkling of constant upheaval lingers in the air at Saddleback Ledge – a feeling that is inescapable. For even on a good day, the sea is not to be tamed here.
